Sometimes I think I must be related to the Cookie Monster.
Even though he may not be as addicted to cookies as he once was.
What’s up with that???
Anyway, I’m always happy to talk about a new cookie discovery and this week I simply must tell you about the Giant Chocolate-Toffee Cookies from the March 2000 issue of Bon Appétit magazine (another Magazine Mondays recipe crossed off the list!).
Let’s see. They’re big. They’re chocolatey. They have chopped up Skor bars in them.
Okay, go make some.
Go … and make sure you have a good week too!
Ciao!
Here’s the recipe for Giant Chocolate-Toffee Cookies.

Valvona & Crolla: A Year at an Italian Table by Mary Contini.

Have you ever read a cookbook that brings tears to your eyes? Tears of joy for all the beautiful food in the world that can be made. That would be this book. Love it.

You have a good week to Ivonne!
Love toffee!
(yeah what is up with that - C is for cookie)
05/26/08 at 5:19 am
That is just too much–so they’ve put the Cookie Monster on a diet????!! Well, as long as I can make your amazing Giant Chocolate Toffee Cookies, I guess I can live with it. . . .
05/26/08 at 6:01 am
Seriously just looking at those made me hungry!
05/26/08 at 6:02 am
Ooo yum I love new cookie discoveries! Saving this recipe. They look so good and chocolatey.
05/26/08 at 7:20 am
Oh man, don’t get me started on the Cookie Monster thing - it’s a shame that he can’t eat his beloved cookies, due to an obesity problem among children! It’s not HIS fault - poor guy :0(
In any event, enjoy YOUR cookies - especially those giant, decadent Chocolate-Toffee cookies!! Yum!! :0)
05/26/08 at 8:07 am
I think I’d better go to the gym. Again. All this baking . . . . These look delicious. Skors bars? Mmm.
05/26/08 at 8:12 am
They are sinful, Ivonne! I have to make these.
05/26/08 at 8:45 am
those look amazing…chewy, soft and crispy at once (i’m imagining here).
05/26/08 at 9:57 am
My daughter just told me about your blog! OMG!!!!! I love it! Not only is it gorgeous, but the recipes! I am so inspired! There are so many I want to try! ……Enjoy your day & happy cooking!…..Heidi
05/26/08 at 1:09 pm
Aww..cookies! I can never tire of finding new recipes to make them.
05/26/08 at 2:35 pm
Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend. I love big chocolaty chewy cookies such as these!
05/26/08 at 3:03 pm
These look amazing! I loved watching the Cookie Monster on Sesame Street–gosh that was such a good show. You know I still watch Sesame Street whenever I’m feeling blue :::cue music::: and it makes me smile again.
05/26/08 at 3:20 pm
Hi Ivonne!
I didn’t know these cookies…I would try this recipe!
When you can, come to my blog that there’s an award for you!
Un abbraccio
Ago
05/26/08 at 3:23 pm
Oh..my..gawd… These look like ooey gooey goodness. I think I have some Scor bars in my cupboard…. TFS!
05/26/08 at 4:50 pm
I remember making these cookies when they came out in the magazine. How could I have forgotten to make them all these years?? Thanks for the reminder. There’s nothing better than a warm chocolate cookie.
05/26/08 at 5:01 pm
Me love chocolate cookies, too….
05/26/08 at 11:45 pm
Yes, he doesn’t eat as many anymore. It is his “sometimes” food. Which is soooo stupid.
Skor bars make anything better…like bacon. I bet these kick butt.
05/27/08 at 2:25 am
Oh good grief. Last I saw Cookie Monster, on Let’s Play Seasame not that long ago, he was still inhaling cookies, but also letters, so he was still a monster.
If it makes you feel any better, we sing C is for Cookie every day at work with the kids, right before snack time, along with J is for Juice, and then the kids have a snack of juice and cookies. So the song, at least, lives on here.
PS Cookies look yummy. Not good preswim breakfast though.
05/27/08 at 5:42 am
the more chocolate the better! They look delicious! Don’t know what Skor Bars are but if there toffee inside I will love them.
05/27/08 at 6:49 am
Yes, I am literally drooling at my desk. Thank godness I’m the only one here yet!
05/27/08 at 8:15 am
Toffee is my favorite! I am going to make these for sure! Maybe I will make my toffee ice cream and do ice cream sandwiches with the cookies…I can’t wait! Thanks!!
05/27/08 at 9:18 am
OK, your recipes and food are always so darn appetizing!! Every time I look at your blog, I am immediately hungry haha!!
And I adore cookies as well, yum yum yum!!!!
05/27/08 at 11:32 am

05/27/08 at 4:29 pm
oh you are so evil. I have been so good. SO GOOD. but the cookies, ah, nevermind bread being the staff of life, that is such a lie! It is the cookies and these call me.
05/27/08 at 6:00 pm
Hi, This is Heidi again, My younger daughter whipped up a batch of these cookies today…..They are amazingly great!!!! & just so beautiful!…We have a big glass cookie jar where they are displayed, each layer separated with circles of parchment! It all looks like a lovely little bake shop! Can’t wait to try another recipe of yours!…..Your friend, Heidi
05/27/08 at 10:59 pm
Can you not make it any bigger?
Me Too Love Cokkies!
05/27/08 at 11:07 pm
You have made me want to make cookies….and I hardly ever bake! Two of my favorite rich flavours together in one giant cookie! Yum!
05/28/08 at 12:15 am
Wow! Me love cookies too–especially when they look like that!
05/28/08 at 1:22 pm
Mmmm…cookies! And I agree, that cookie monster name change thing is bogus.
05/29/08 at 3:58 am

05/30/08 at 10:37 am
