I love peaches.
Love ‘em.
And any time I can find a dessert that showcases them I’m always game. I’ve said before and I’ll say it again that one of my very favourite summer experiences is the chance to eat a sun-warmed peach and have all those sweet juices running down your hand.
It’s truly one of nature’s lovely gifts.
And to be able to bake with such a beautiful fruit is yet another gift that always makes me so happy.
I hope you have a tremendous week and I hope this Peach and Almond Tart from the July 2007 issue of Olive magazine helps you along the way!
Ciao!
Note: This is a brilliant recipe! It’s been in my magazine box for so long so I’m glad that I finally gave it a go for Magazine Mondays. You can find the recipe here. I used Ontario ice wine to cook my peaches and I can’t tell you how delicious it was. This is definitely a keeper!
Check out who else has been putting those magazine recipes to good use: Over at Retorte, Wandering Coyote has been making some delicious Blueberry Corn Bread and Natashya of Living in the Kitchen with Puppies made a drink that I need to have right now!

Valvona & Crolla: A Year at an Italian Table by Mary Contini.

Have you ever read a cookbook that brings tears to your eyes? Tears of joy for all the beautiful food in the world that can be made. That would be this book. Love it.

Your tart looks gorgeous and perfect! Yummy!
Cheers,

Looks delicious indeed, peach and almonds is a wonderful combination. Peaches are usually quite expensive over here so i usually use nectarines because they are much cheaper and as delicious. But I like the furry look of peaches much better though.

Your tart is beautiful and looks delicious. Peaches are my first choice of fruit!
07/15/08 at 1:48 am
That looks wonderful and it would be perfect for breakfast. I love having fruit desserts for breakfast, it just starts the day off so nicely!
07/15/08 at 3:03 am
looks so lovely!
07/15/08 at 5:50 am
OH your desert is so pretty. Nothing says summer like peaches to me.
07/15/08 at 7:21 am
I too love peaches; and I’m absolutely SMITTEN with that tart!! :0D
07/15/08 at 7:38 am
That looks so good. What a neat magazine, I’ll have to look more into that.
07/15/08 at 9:47 am
Peaches are a wonderful thing and that is a beautiful looking tart!
07/15/08 at 10:09 am
I’m with you there about the peaches. I love this tart with fresh plums as well. Staying busy with sumer and guests. Weren’t you talking about a trip to Italy sometime this year?
07/15/08 at 10:57 am
What a load of cobblers
07/15/08 at 12:24 pm
That’s a beautiful tart! Peaches are one of the few fruits I actually like better when they’re cooked, though a raw peach right off the tree, warmed by the sun, is pretty darned good, too.
07/15/08 at 3:45 pm
Wow, beautiful tart! I’m always looking for more things to do with peaches now that they’re so cheap at the grocery store. I wonder if it will still taste as good though without the almonds…my dear hubby has a horrible allergy…
07/15/08 at 5:25 pm
So gorgeous! I’ve been experimenting with apricots this summer but you never go wrong with peaches and a tart! Bravo!
07/15/08 at 7:59 pm
I love peaches and can nibble on almonds all day. The tart looks lovely. I’ve a few copies of Olive around–I’ve never cooked from it but seeing this makes me think I should dig them up.

Perfect little rows of peaches…. I can really tell how much you loved making this
07/16/08 at 12:25 pm
Really beautiful and you sure went the extra mile to cook them in ice wine - most expensive peaches you’ll ever eat but man, are they gorgeous.
07/16/08 at 1:50 pm
Your tart is just perfect.
I love summer peaches from Niagara, we like to drive down and pick up some roadside peaches when we buy our wine. Pure heaven.
07/17/08 at 6:19 am
Your blog is so nice!! I’ll try this recipe for sure: the peaches in my garden are now perfectly ripe…
ciao from Italy
07/17/08 at 10:38 am
I would be happy eating a diced peach with some homemade whip cream, but the peach and almond tart is beautiful and looks yummy.
07/17/08 at 10:44 am
Oh my……. I am wild for peaches and your recipe looks so yummy that I am quite sure it will be soon in my future.
I work in a studio next door to a large and prolific community garden. Right now the peaches hang heavy on the tree and I sit here looking at them longingly. They are about a day from sheer perfection. Until then they look at me and wink…..

It looks like it is studded with gorgeous jewels, just beautiful.
07/18/08 at 12:25 pm
I have been a silent visitor on your blog for quite a while now. Your blog is one of the blogs that inspired me to cook and blog! The peach tart looks amazing..I’ve bookmarked it to make later

This is the first time ever I see this family recipe of mine.
It came from Italian founders of village, from Napoli
but never ever saw it anywhere, I am amazed.
Our version comes with a mix of fresh/ compote / jam apricots but still looks pretty the same
The almond cream being loaded with lemon zest
My favorite :)))
