Cream Puffs in Venice readers, meet my new favourite French Apple Tart.
French Apple Tart, meet Cream Puffs in Venice readers.
I was introduced to my new favourite French Apple Tart in the whole wide world by Ina Garten, author of the brand new Barefoot Contessa Back to Basics.
When I write reviews, I try to be very thorough. I try to include as many details as possible about how the cookbook is written and presented, what sort of recipes you’ll find in the cookbook and if they work or not and and what my overall sense of the cookbook is.
But sometimes, brevity is best.
Just go buy this cookbook.
I mean it’s Ina, for heaven’s sake! It’s Ina in all her full-colour glory with recipes that just make you want to write her a letter begging that she adopt you.
I want to eat at her house every single day forever.
And now that French Apple Tart is in my life, I want to eat that at her house every single day forever. Puff pastry, sliced apples, sugar, butter and rum.
And now I have a new best friend!
But enough of this useless writing. Go buy the book or go put it on your Christmas list or go bug someone to buy it for you and then go to the kitchen and cook and bake.
Go!
Ciao!

You really can’t go wrong with the addition of rum… I’ve currently got a stack of cookbooks I need to spend hours browsing through and despite that I want more of them, like this one!

It looks incredibly good! Very pretty!
Cheers,
Rosa

Oooh! I bought this cookbook a couple of weeks ago and have tried two recipes, both to rave reviews. I don’t know how she continues to do it but she does. I’ll try this tart asap.

Yum yum this looks super delicious. Please don t tempt me to buy more books
but this looks a real good one ha . A christmas present for me

I love Ina too! I lined up for many hours at the Manulife Indigo when she was here 1 1/2 years ago. (8th in line!)
She is just as beautiful in real life. None of her recipes have let me down, and none of the ingredients too hard to track down. Her books are winners!
The tart looks amazing. I would like some for breakfast, with my coffee.

Looks great, it might be to late for my Christmas list, but once the holidays are over I may just treat myself!
12/4/08 at 8:13 am
ha! The book is already on my wish list!
and yeah, that apple tart looks delicious!
12/4/08 at 8:20 am
I am picking this book up at the library today! It just came in for me. I like to preview them first, but it sounds like I just need to buy this one! The tart looks amazing!
12/4/08 at 8:40 am
I think that that just became my new favorite French Apple Tart too
12/4/08 at 10:15 am
I gave this book a really positive review as well! I’ll definitely be keeping it around! I made the brownie pudding and it was absolutely TO DIE FOR!!
12/4/08 at 10:20 am
I love, love, love this book. I’m cooking my way through it and think I need to pick up some puff pastry to do this wonderful tart. It looks gorgeous.
12/4/08 at 11:06 am
I’ve ordered the book but it’s taking a month of Sundays to arrive. I’m starting to get unhappy. I’ve seen her show making recipes from the book. I’m really anxious to get it. If it doesn’t hurry I’ll be buying her next one!!
12/4/08 at 11:39 am
Too late, I already own it. It was pre-ordered. I love her.
12/4/08 at 11:40 am
This tart looks delicious! I want a bite!
Come to know Chocorango, my blog. Will be my pleasure.

That looks delicious Ivonne! I love Ina Garten’s recipes too - they are clear and easy to follow and the results are always great.

Yes, oh, yes. This is my default for apples, pears, peaches, apricots, … you can tell I am quite enamoured by this kind of tart. It looks absolutely delicious! I saw Ina Garten recently at her book signing about 5 minutes away from my house, and I felt quite fan-girlish.
12/4/08 at 4:57 pm
Hi there!
Love your blog & recipes. I have to agree, Ina is really great, I can’t remember 1 recipe I made from her that wan’s a hit.
12/4/08 at 7:11 pm
That looks like exactly the kind of thing my hubby would love for breakfast - I think I”ll have to make that this weekend. I have a review copy of the book and thought that recipe looked interesting but your endorsement is propelling me to action!
12/4/08 at 9:06 pm
No wonder this is your new favorite.. it looks fabulously delectable! The pastry is beautifully flakey!
12/4/08 at 9:53 pm
dear Ivonne girl—- this would be on my list except we said no gifts for each other this year. Of course this means that I shall have to purchase the book for myself!!
Good thing I have no guilt on this issue at all!
12/5/08 at 8:27 am
My coblogger LOVES Ina Garten! This recipe looks just as good as all her others!

Now I have to make this apple tart…
