Hello there.
I’m sending you a note to let you know that I’m flying away to the little house in the hills. As I like to say, “I’m going to 47 Rocca Street.”
I’m off to visit my beautiful Italian family and will be gone for a little over three weeks.
Take care of yourselves and your blogs and your tummies while I’m gone. Eat, cook and bake lots and lots. Enjoy the fruits of summer. Enjoy the sun and the water.
Be happy.
Wear flip flops and pretty dresses.
Eat gelato.
I’ll see you when I get back!

Have a blast! How I wish I was jetting off on vacation in Italy! Over here it is rainy season already but I am making the most by enjoying rainy weather comfort food

I am so jealous. I just happened on your blog and I’m thinking of my parents right now spending 3 months in Italy with our family and dreaming when I can go back. It’s amazing how similar my memories are to your own. Your writing is beautiful and takes me back to that beautiful place and even the memories of my mother (funny my mother shares her name with a poster above – Mirella) here in the USA growing up an Italian child in America. Together making the fresh pasta for the lasagna, canning tomatoes, hanging sausages, all the ladies gathering around a table making strozzapreti and roasting peppers for freezing on the old weber grill-me complaining that we’re “stinking” up the neighborhood. Oh how I miss those days. Thank you, thank you for reminding me how blessed that I am to have grown up the daughter of two wonderful immigrants from Italy.

I hope you have a wonderful time. I was in Italy for the first time back in May and I can not wait to go back. Maybe my next trip back I’ll actually get to experience Venice. Ciao!
