Magazine Mondays

Welcome to the Magazine Mondays page!

What is Magazine Mondays? Well it’s a little event that I actually like to call a non-event. Allow me to explain.

In October 2007, overwhelmed by the piles of food magazines and recipe clippings in every corner of my house, I decided it was time to do something about it. In an effort to enourage myself to start trying these recipes, I created Magazine Mondays.

Because Mondays tend to be slow days, I thought it would be fun to start off the week with a magazine recipe that I’d finally tried. I haven’t looked back!

While I can’t say that my magazine pile is all that much smaller, I feel much better about the fact that I’m now using all those magazines I buy, which is far more responsible then letting them lie around everywhere.

I encourage anyone who wants to participate in Magazine Mondays to do so. There are no rules to this event. It’s very informal. All you have to do is send me an e-mail with the link to a post on your blog where you’ve featured a magazine recipe. And you can put your post up any day of the week (not just Mondays). In my next Magazine Mondays post, I’ll link to you.

Due to the success of Magazine Mondays, I decided that the event needed a logo. I contacted one of my most favourite illustrators and designers out there: Julianna Smith. Julianna is an incredible artist and I was completely honoured that she’d take the time to create a logo for me!

Here’s hoping that Magazine Mondays continues to be a huge success, and that we all tackle that magazine pile, one recipe at a time!

Have you ever read a cookbook that brings tears to your eyes? Tears of joy for all the beautiful food in the world that can be made. That would be this book. Love it.
